Hair today, gone tomorrow.

There is hair on your clothes, hair in your shower, hair on your pillow…Actually, it seems to be everywhere except where you want it to be! Some hair loss is normal. We all shed hair daily. It is not abnormal to shed up to 100 hairs in a day. This is more obvious and can seem more concerning when the hair is long.

If you feel like 100 hairs in a day would be an improvement from where you are, let me first tell you that you are not alone. Millions of Americans are affected by hair loss. I’m probably not telling you anything you don’t know already but don’t lose interest just yet. What you may not know is that there are many different reasons for hair loss. While it’s true, it is sometimes just hereditary, it can also be from hormones, medications, illness, autoimmune conditions or fungal issues.

Depending on the cause of your hair loss, it may be completely reversible or may respond to treatments to either help regrow some hair or slow down the current rate of loss. You should contact your health care provider to discuss what is occurring and put a plan in place

Some hair loss is permanent. There are many products out there that can help reduce the appearance of thinning hair. Your provider may be able to point you in the right direction.

Above all else, though, remember this – male or female, hair or no hair, you are beautiful just as you are!
