It seems winter has arrived early with all its snowy glory. While I’m no fan of shoveling or scraping, I do enjoy a good cup of hot tea, cozy in my house and protected from the elements. It’s so easy to take this for granted.
Unfortunately, homelessness is still a very real and very big problem for thousands of people living in Massachusetts. Winter for them can be especially difficult, even dangerous. That is where the amazing people working at Father Bill’s &Main Spring step in to help. As a nonprofit organization, their mission for more than 3 decades has been to try to end homelessness by providing emergency and permanent housing. They help people obtain skills, jobs, housing, and services to achieve self- sufficiency.
As you can imagine, providing essentials to that many people can come with a great expense. Thankfully, we are surrounded by wonderful people in our area who are more than willing to help those less fortunate.
If you feel so inclined, please give the gift of compassion to someone struggling.
Once an individual or family has access to housing, they need essential supplies to get the new household started. We have a laundry basket that we are filling with some of their wish list items: Blankets (twin), sheet sets (twin), bath towels, face cloths, tooth brushes, tooth paste, bars of soap, shampoo, hand soap, dish towel, dish soap, spray cleaner, paper towels, scrub sponges, trash bags, laundry detergent, first aid kit and child thermometer. Food, and clothing, donations are appreciated, as well.
